It’s Game time!

Your sons have been showing improvement and are excited for their season opener on Monday.  The game will give us coaches a better chance to evaluate individual and team strengths and weaknesses.  Each season we stress the importance of learning as much as possible about the game of football and every position on the field.  Due to low numbers AND less than 100% attendance in practices,  this year it is even more important that each athlete learn more than one position to make us the best we can be.   It is my goal to get every prepared athlete into every game.

An Athlete’s Playing Time

How much playing time each athlete will have is determined by attitude, attendance, ability, and knowledge of our system.  A player’s attitude is defined by his willingness to put his team first, his hustle from one activity to the next, his cooperation with teammates, his desire to improve himself and the team in every drill, practice and game, and his willingness to do whatever it takes to be prepared to be the best he can be to make a contribution to the team—this includes keeping up on schoolwork and staying eligible.

Bus Permission Form REMINDER

For anyone who is planning on staying to watch the JV team play following our game and giving your son a ride home, please note:  the school policy for riding home with a parent/guardian from an out of town event is:

                1.     The parent must make personal contact with the coach following the event EACH time your child is not riding home on the bus, AND

                2.     The parent must have a signed copy of the bus permission form on file at the high school office.

                3.     If you would like your child to ride home with an adult other than yourself, please send a note detailing who will be responsible for your child.

As of today, I am still missing permission forms from Andy Parsons and Austin Becthold.

Game Jersey Information

Your first newsletter stated that I would not issue game jerseys until today; however, we have decided to leave the responsibility in your son’s hands after we issued the game jersey for picture day.  He has been reminded that it his responsibility to have his game jersey for each game.  His game jersey is his ticket to play.

Photographer/Statistician

With the help of Austin Palmquist and Roger Cerven, I will be providing stats and pictures from each game.  They will be posted online within a few days following the game.  

H₂O bottle

The school will provide a large cooler of water for each game; however, each athlete will be responsible for bringing a bottle to drink from.  A used Gatorade bottle is the most popular choice.

Homecoming Week

With no school on Wednesday, and all of the activities going on this week, we feel it will be necessary to meet for practice on Friday morning from 7:15 until shortly after 8:00.  This will eliminate the confusion of regrouping after the parade and parade clean-up.  If this creates a problem, please communicate with me as soon as possible!
