PM Practice Times
Practice times are listed above. We will be using the last 10-15 minutes of practice time for individual skills next week. This would allow some athletes to be done a little earlier unless they have make-up conditioning to do. Plus, if our morning attendance continues to be close to 100%, we will be getting done an additional 15 minutes early on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Publicity
The best source for game pictures, stats, etc is the school’s website. The Villisca Review also has been mentioning the team in their paper from the information that is posted on the website. To my knowledge, the Red Oak Express has yet to print anything on Stanton Junior High football given the same information over the past 4 seasons. I’ll continue to send them information.
Game Tape
If anyone has a copy of either the Villisca or the Essex game, I would like to make a copy of it. As of today, I have someone to volunteer to use the school’s video camera to record our upcoming games.
BIG Schstick! Award
On Monday, September 17, 2007, Andrew Cerven earned the BIG Schstick! Award for the blasting hit he delivered on the kickoff team that sent a Bluejay to his back! Keep it up Andrew!
Attendance is a MUST to be prepared!!
Yesterday was the first practice since the Villisca game that we have had all 16 bodies at practice and able to participate. We have missed out on a lot of scrimmage time. Hopefully the revised drills will be enough to have us ready for East Mills on Monday. I believe that they outnumber us 2 to 1, with at least 32 boys out for junior high football. They are capable of having 2 full scrimmages going at one time in practice. I hope our AM workouts will have us conditioned.
Eligibility
Everyone should be eligible to play on Monday; however, many athletes are on the borderline. Please check on your son’s classroom status.
AM Workouts
THANK YOU parents for the time and effort you give your son to help his strength and conditioning!! The A.M. workouts have gradually intensified. We have been working very hard and the athletes who have been there consistently will feel a difference in strength and conditioning in Monday’s game. I will be introducing them to some basic lifts in the weight room next week. We will be focusing on the proper techniques. We will continue to do core exercises together prior to weight training.
Progress
The team has been making progress despite lack of numbers and scrimmage time in practice. Every day we as coaches find someone or some area of the game that has improved! We look forward to some changes we are planning as early as Monday night. I am proud of the athletes for their effort on a daily basis and their eagerness to learn. Win or lose, we have a great bunch!
