GREAT JOB!!

Your son’s rebounded well last week and their efforts and hard work paid off on Monday as they jumped out to a significant lead early in the game.  Our hitting improved and we played with much more confidence.  We have been polishing in all areas of the game this week.  We plan to execute even better in our last game of the season on Monday.  I am very proud of the effort and the progress they have been making throughout the season.

Last Game Information:

Opponent:  Lenox Tigers
Game Site:  Lenox

Bus departure:  2:35
Game Time
:  4:00

Approx return time:  6:20

The Lenox junior high football team, to the best of my knowledge, has increased the size of their squad since the beginning of the season.  They started out the season with 13 (3 of them girls).  I have learned this week that they have had a few more boys and two more girls come out for football and they are winning games.  Girls at the junior high level can be a force to reckon with; I have seen it before.  Our boys have been told ahead of time so that it isn’t alarming or distracting at game time.

Regardless of the score, your sons are winners.  Once again, the eighth graders have done an excellent job of leading by example, and the seventh graders are showing that they will make great leaders for next year’s team.  I look forward to watching them continue to develop good work habits in the classroom, the weight room and in athletics.  With the small number of boys we have in grades 5-7, I wouldn’t be surprised if we also have girls on our team soon.

Pizza Time

Where:  Viking View Oil

When:  Monday, approx 6:25 p.m.

Cost:  Single topping $9.00; specialty $11.00

All parents are invited to join us.  I have taken a tally on the total amount and type of pizzas the team would like.  I then divided the cost by 18 (16 players, 1 coach, and 1 photographer) to come up with a shared cost of $5.29, taxes included.  To make it easier, I am asking each of the other 17 to just give me $5.00 and I will make up the rest.  As far as drinks go, each person will supply their own.  Team menu:  2 Pepperoni; 2 Sausage; 3 Meat Lovers; 1 Supreme; and 1 Extra cheese.  The math:  8 slices per 9 pizzas = 72 total divided by 18 people = exactly 4 pieces per person.

This week’s BIG Schstick!  Award

October 8—Coty Johnson earned the award for his great tackle in the second half on our sideline.  It was unfortunate the Rebel ball carrier landed on the ball knocked the wind out of himself, but he was ok.  Coty is beginning to hit and tackle with intensity.  I look forward to seeing who will win this award next week.
